Hi to all

The past 3 months of my life have been living hell! It all started with me going to my OB dr and having my IUD taken out because I was having some kind of weird vibration feeling in that area. I never told her that was the reason but that I just wanted it out. I was also dealing with a little bit of baby blues and she referred me to my GP. My GP dr prescribed me Prozac. I took the pills for 5-6 days and they made my symptoms of depression almost unbearable. It shot my anxiety problems though the roof. I couldn't take care of my 10 month old son, eat, sleep, it was horrible. I went back and she then prescribed me Zoloft. I took that because that was supposed to be not as strong as the Prozac. Again it did the same thing. It took my a good 2-3 weeks to get my anxiety under control. My dr also prescribed me Klonopin.5mg. at night time to sleep. That seems to help with my sleep and anxiety.

Somewhere in between all this I noticed the vibrations that were in my pelvic area were now spreading into hip, legs , feet, arms, neck. Now I still have the vibrations but I'm having twitches everywhere. I really get them in my right hand. I can see and feel them. I also get them in the arches of my feet. My right arm feels like there is a blood pressure cuff on it all the time. Its hard sometimes to hold my arm up. Its hard to carry my son around. Just this morning I woke up and the top of my middle finger up to my elbow aches, cramps. I also feel a pulling sensation on my jaw and down my neck. I get Pins and needles feeling in my hands and my feet . I have no energy and everything I do feels like a struggle.

About a month ago I went to see a Nero. He performed clinical tests on me, did a EMG, and some blood work. All came back normal.

My question is was it to soon to go and see him for this testing? I was only having these symptoms for about 4-5 weeks. when I seen him. Since then I have gotten weaker in my right arm and leg.

Can an EMG detect ALS that earily on? Can an EMG pick up abnormalities even if your not "twitching" at the time?

Does this sound like ALS? Any input would be appricieted.

P.S. My Nero told my that I have a condition called BFS. For some reason I'm having a hard time believing this. My conditions are just getting worse.

Welcome to the forum, but sorry you have to be here. Your symptoms could indicate nothing or a ton of other things. It really does not sound like ALS but you need to see a good neurologist and believe what you are told. Don't jump on the ALS bandwagon yet.

Irish,
Are you able to get to Grand Rapids? There is a wonderful ALS specialist there. You could get in quickly and she could rule it out to relieve your mind. The clinic is at St. Mary's Hospital.

Yes I could. Grand Rapids is about 2-3 Hours from me. I would travel anywhere. You said the name of the Hospital is St. Mary's. What is the name of the Dr? Thank you for your replies!

Sounds like you should see a good neuro just to clear your mind, but it does not sound like ALS to me either, and yes a clean emg is a really good sign, it can pick up abnormalities at an earlier stage than symptoms, very often. And a exam should have picked up upper motor neuron symptoms very quickly. I would say relax and see a doc to put your mind at ease. But I sure do not think it is als.. I will even overlook you being an Irish fan..LoL my teenage son is also, he loved Brady Quinn.

Irish,
The name of the doctor is Dr. Gelinas; she is very easily accessible. She is only at St. Mary's on Tuesdays, but we were able to get in very quickly. I wish I had a phone number to give you, but if you call I'm sure they'll get you to the ALS Clinic. Good luck, and I agree that it doesn't sound like ALS.:)

I agree with those that have said it doesn't look like ALS. If your symptoms were the result of ALS at work, the EMG would have picked up on it.

I have suffer from muscle twitches and have had 2 clean EMG's. I do not have ALS. I hope you find this of some comfort.
