Gem, good on BJ for recognising that it's time.
As you said to me in another thread, that can be tougher than actually handing it in and not driving.
You can get taxi vouchers. I get half price taxi trips. Ask at Transport for the form.
God bless, Janelle x

i wish i could still drive. jane drives but not with wheels. oh how i wish i could.

I'm hearing you Dave. It's not until I am not able to do something that I realise just how big a deal it is.
Like dressing myself. Making a sandwich for my kids. Brushing my teeth. Independence is terribly undervalued.
God bless, Janelle x

car sickness is my problem if not behind the wheel. any one got suggestions. dramamine works but i don't want to take it all the time. thanks chally

Chally, that was always a problem for my husband, so he always drove. Now, when I drive, he sleeps. It's just easier on both of us....

thanks all for info on motion sickness. my brother mentioned a thing called a "sea band" and i got one from w-mart. haven't gone anywhere yet but will try it out and post results . thanks chally

Steve can't sleep so he is wide awake. But now he gets confused and asks why I have done something like make a right turn When he meant to tell me left but said right. I tell him no worries that's what uturns are for:)

Incidently, while he can still get in and out of the van, Steve isn't using his power chair as a seat to ride on a trip. He moves too much even with the easy lock and belt. That makes him queasy.

i just got diagnosed in May--haven't even seen the specialist but this is moving fast. I am questioning my driving, have to go to a few appointments this next week, and then I think I'm done. My left leg is like a board. Losing dorsiflexion in my right now, and feel my reflexes are slower. Damn. It's a true loss of independence

Hee Hee....I am the QUEEN of UTurns! Mom and I used to laugh about it. I think hubby might just be learning to accept it!

omg hold on lol

sea bands really work and are cheap at w-mart. no more motion sickness and no dramimine they work by acupressure. chally

My left leg is gone, but my right still works...I just drove 2154 miles to Yosemite and back (posted in another thread)...I am very aware of my right leg and foot so when I feel the slightest bit of deterioration I won't drive any longer...I don't drive much anyway, just to tired to move...my wife is also monitoring me every day

> when I feel the slightest bit of deterioration I won't drive any longer.

The hand controls work pretty well.

I know, but the cost is to much for us to adapt and I am not sure I can last through the required training. As little as I drive currently I can just have someone come over and pick me up
