Hi Waddles,
I've had PLS since 2004. Onset was in the bulbar area only for 4 years. Since 2008, it has progressed to my left leg and left arm. I have had terrible spasms in the calf and shin area. Very painful. They lasted about a month and then just went away. Weird. I do get spasms now in my toes and feet, but they are nowhere as painful as the calf and shin spasms were.

Waddles, I'll tell you one thing, if you have PLS, you can certainly expect muscle spasms!

Judith,

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could figure out what triggered spasms and what turned them off. It's obvious that something happens or changes to make them come on or off. Someone could avoid certain things if we knew.

I'm glad your painful spasms are gone. Did you change activity or exercise etc around the time that they stopped?

Sral,

I agree wholeheatedly. Wish I knew what triggers these things and why they stop all of a sudden, so I would know what to do and what not to do.
I can't recall doing anything differently that made them start, or go away.
