TR, I guess I started listening to what became known as contemporary Christian music before it had a name (yep, guess I've got to accept the fact that I'm no longer young :-). There was a simplicity and purity to it before it became a commercial commodity. Some of my early favorites were Don Francisco, The Second Chapter of Acts (siblings Annie Herring, Matthew Ward, and Nellie Ward), Keith Green, Terry Clark, and Twila Paris. Bill Gaither has been a steady presence throughout many years. Among my later favorites were Michael Card, Wayne Watson, Steve Camp, Fernando Ortega, and, of course, Rich Mullins.

Here's one from the group Harvest, that I think was their best. It's subject is probably the most important truth of all and especially apropos for our upcoming celebration of Resurrection Day.

Here's a reverent song about exactly what took place and what was accomplished on the day that we are commemorating today. It's "Lamb of God" by Twila Paris.

Phil,
I listened to it when Amy Grant had just started out. And before her affair with her now husband.

Hey Toto,

Unfortunately, that was just one example of how many involved in the CCM "industry" got corrupted by the lure of the world. As a whole, my appreciation of it continued to wane as the genre became more and more imitative of whatever was in vogue in the secular segments of the music industry. I'm very eager to come across new truly Christ honoring music, but now mostly stick to classical. In my opinion, the greatest piece of music ever written was Handel's Messiah.

Phil, I used the Hallelujah Chorus at the college I taught at. Unfortunately, was limited to a few secular songs. And why does everything good in the world, have to get so tainted?

A Happy Dance with a flash mob on Easter morning!

This is a crowd in Ghana singing the traditional orthodox easter hymn with their own, awesome flair.

Thank you Beky, Sharon, Jim and Phil so much for the Joy!

Thanks Jim! I can only imagine! :)
