iPod touch with TEXT?

If the programs work with the Microsoft on-screen keyboard they should work with Dasher. I have not had issues using it with any program so far. As you know, you can set Dasher 2 ways. The first way it types directly into whatever program you want or it types into its own program and you have to cut-and-paste. I always type directly into whatever program is open. Like now, I am using it to type directly here.
I would be surprised if it did not do the same with NextUp.

Joel, I did not know that about Dasher and it works beautifully with NextUp when you set Dasher for direct entry! You might want to download E-triloquist and play around with it because it is free, it didn't work well for me but Dasher was driving me crazy so maybe you will have better luck.

You can download a trial of NextUp. I doesn't come with a good voice but you get to choose one when you purchase the program. I have also purchased a voice from Cepstral that works with all my programs.

I hope this helps you talk cause we all need to be heard even if it is only to say "No thank you Christine, I don't want a glass of water!"

All the best to you and your dear wife, my BC buddy!

Hey guys,

This was a very interesting conversation, as I am working through this myself. I have a number of Cepestral voices - and will snail mail them out to you if you wish. They are a little too big to email.

Barry, are you using Nextup on both your Ipod and netbook?

I have Proloquo2Go on my ipod.

Barry's recommendation to get the largest ipod holds merit with me. It can be your entertainment center in your pocket. I have 160 gig of audiobooks , movies , tv shows / series , as well as many books to be read. I use the itunes , and only spent $200 for the prologue to go software , the rest has only cost me my time.

Glen, I use Proloquo2Go on my IPod and NextUp for all my Windows machines. Different voices (Default) Ryan on the IPod and (Cepstral) David on the netbook.

I came by from another thread-uffda! I am sooooo overwhelmed :[ I don't see how I can help Web with his feelings of frustration when I am so technology disabled! I will need to come back and see if it makes more sense later :] wahhhh Thanks all!

You have but to ask Kay Marie.

asking... but I don't know the question!

Joel,

There is a setting for Dasher that will allow you to speak whatever you type with Dasher. It's called Control Mode. It adds another set of blocks to the Dasher screen that contain entries for various actions, such as stopping and pausing Dasher, editing the text you've already written with Dasher, and speaking the text from Dasher. These functions are available and work in standalone mode, but I don't know how well they work in Direct Entry mode.

Barry,

If Joel can operate Dasher with a headmouse and I can use it with a foot-controlled trackball, how hard can it be to learn? The only problem I have seen is for people that get motion sickness or vertigo easily.

And, for all, I've found that some Dasher functions work better with different programs and versions of Windows than others. I've personally found Direct Entry mode to be very erratic working with the software I prefer to use, but I also don't use things like Internet Explorer, MS Office, etc., which might account for that. I just got used to using standalone mode.
