Hi there, I posted a few months ago. I’m so sorry but I dont know how to link my thread. I’m sorry if I’m breaking the rules by creating another.

I have been away for a few months living my life. I have been feeling absolutely fine, going to the gym, running and dismissing any lingering thoughts of ALS. BUT, unfortunately I have been experiencing some symptoms with my throat. I have had muscle twitches since Feb- all over. I have also had muscle cramps in my hands and feet. If I straighten my toes they will cramp. I’ve been fine with all this and putting ALS out my mind.

The last month or so I’ve had problems with my throat. First of all feel like something floppy in my throat. My voice has become weaker and now hoarse. I become breathless when speaking. I struggle to clear my throat. Ive also had cramps in my jaw and neck which I have never had before. No choking and no feeling of anything stuck in my throat.

I don’t have health anxiety and I’m not an anxious person. I have my worries under control but I just can’t shake the possibility of this being ALS. I had thought about something like MS but then I feel so well! I’ve got so much energy, surely I wouldn’t have that with MS. I’m not breathless as such but this floppy feeling in my throat makes me feel breathless.

You say…

You don’t have health anxiety and you’re not an anxious person.

But… you just can’t shake the possibility of this being ALS.

In your first thread… You can manage your anxiety until evening and
then it’s hard not to panic when your legs are twitching like crazy.

Health Anxiety denial ?… maybe address this with your PCP.

Hope you find the path through your doctors to resolve your current
symptoms and let the burden of having ALS go.

Hi there-

I may have missed it in your posts, but I see no mention of you having visited a doctor. That should be your first stop if you have worries about your health. As Al notes, your posts indicate a fair amount of anxiety about your symptoms, so a clinical exam would go a long way towards mitigating that. Also make sure to re-read the Read Before Posting link for a reminder about why twitching absent clinical weakness points elsewhere.

Take care
