Diarrhea and constipation issues with ensure /kates farm

FEEDING This was my Standard Feeding recipe: 1 "can" of Kate Farms Plus and equal amount of water PLUS 1 oz.

Hydration: Aside from the water mixed with the Kate Farms (I do not recommend using the flavored variety unless the patient is drinking it)
between the feedings (4 hours apartr) I would administer 2 to 4 ounces of water to the patient.

Nightcap: Then as a "bedtime" I gave the balance of the meds through 2 ounces (maybe up to 4) of water.

DIARRHEA: To stop possible Diarrhea, I blended 1 package of (RX) Colesevelam Hysdrocloride which turns liquids into a slurry but seems to prevent Diarrhea (the "runs") > then comes (maybe) constipation. Imodium was used when required to slow this (the runs) process which still happened later on.

CONSTIPATION: Then the was the problem of constipation: In this case, I administers Myralax - but not full measure - except over 2 to 3 feedings. I would also cut back (sometimes to none) the Clolesevelam.

I fed my spouse 3 times a day due to the lateness of our start of the day. My target was to get about 45 to 50 ounces of water

My patient was 4'11" tall at about 93 lbs/ While doctor recommended 4 cans of nutrition and 64 ounces of water (I don't drink that amount in a month!) I did try to keep PALS getting as much as she could tolerate often giving her an additional 2 ounces of water along with liquid Tylenol.

Adjust the figures for your PALS. Keep in mind, you are doing a balancing act

One thing I noticed with all this canned nutrition, is the lack of collagen. I used the bovine version of Vital Proteins giving PALS a daily intake of one premeasured dose. I used another broader spectrum (sea food) type of collagen about once a week.
