I was ready to buy a Golden Power Lift Recliner and then I came across a chair that had all the options we wanted and it felt extremely comfortable. The tipping point was it was only $1100. I took Marie to the store to try it and she agreed it felt very comfortable so we bought it. After it was delivered and Marie sat in it the first night she complained that the lumbar area seemed to be bulging and it made the chair uncomfortable. As the week went on she started to get accustom to the chair and she said for now it may be OK. I tried the chair and I see what she's saying after 5-10 minutes it feels like something pushing in the lumbar area making the chair not great. I checked and the chair has no lumbar adjustment so it's just the chair. Keep in mind we tried the chair in the store but what they sent us is the same model chair but it isn't the exact same. That would be us buying the floor model. Also the chair came in two colors the floor model was beige we bought the same chair in navy blue so asking to swap isn't an option.

Now the bad news by the time I realized we should have the golden chair 5 days had gone by. I looked up the stores return policy and found two descriptions one said 72 hours and another said after delivery is accepted there are no returns. Not what I wanted to see.

To add to my dissatisfaction I believe the Golden comes with battery backup needless to say our chair has none. This past Thursday we had a blustery storm and we lost power for 16 hours, luckily Marie wasn't in the recliner when power went out but that underlines how we need backup. Now I have to buy a battery backup for the chair that has that lumbar issue. I don't know if I can mention the store so I will post it in a separate post that the Mods can remove if need be. Beware this store with any furniture purchases.

The store is Raymoor & Flanigan

That’s too bad. I find that a lot of disability equipment, furniture, and other disability products are a rip off and don’t work or are poor quality. I have a transfer chair that I can’t get into, a stair chair that my husband can’t lift alone, a transfer board that I can’t use, and a rehabilitation walker that I’m not able to use. We watched videos on YouTube for all these things, and they all looked so easy to use, and I thought I would be mobile enough to use them. I don’t know if I weigh too much, or whether my mobility declined too suddenly, but I find that disability equipment tends to be expensive because, since we need this stuff, they can jack up the price and we’ll still pay it. So it really isn’t your fault what happened. Just remember, next time, buyer beware.

I'm sorry about the lift chair. You will always want to have a floor lift charged up, or some other means of transferring, in case a power outage or dead battery occurs that affects a PALS in bed, wheelchair, or a lift chair.

Since we're heading into hurricane season, also just a reminder to get on your local utility's priority power restoration list. If you haven't completed a form yet, it should be on their web site or available via customer service. Same for priority position in ferry lines, if that applies.

Hi Johnny. I'd say to at least try calling the store and explain things, and hopefully they will be willing to work with you on exchanging for another chair, or a refund. Worth a try. Any good business should be willing to make it right with their customers.

Happy to hear you got Marie out with you. Take care ~

Hello folks I live in a nursing home and just bought a new wheelchair, up until now I have had a wheelchair supplied by als but I decided to buy my own. I bought it from a dealer that sells only wheelchairs there were three reps" on scene for the better part of a day to make sure everything was working properly and was comfortable the chair has become my partner in many ways. My suggestion would be only buy from people that know what they are selling.
