Hello, I am a white man, 33 years old, from the Czech Republic. It is true that I suffer from health anxiety. Recently I have noticed fasciculations on my arm, proximal part of my leg and sometimes so differently on my body. In addition to this I have such neuropathic pains as I feel sometimes an electrifying pain in the muscles of my leg, arm, etc. The muscle in the upper part of my left leg has also somehow frozen, and I feel a cramp in it at times, a sort of twitching when I walk. The muscle hurts so much that it makes my testicle ache, and when I touch it, it feels kind of frozen to the touch. The sensitivity on the surface of the muscle is reduced. When I dig my fingernail into it or run my fingernail over it I don't feel it like I normally do on the other leg or elsewhere on my body. I don't feel any muscle weakness or other symptoms yet. I don't trip or anything like that. However, the fasciculations along with the neuropathic pain and the difficulty with the muscle made me make an appointment with a neurologist. Should I request an EMG? I should tell him my concerns about ALS.

You may mention your concerns, but you should make clear that you are aiming for a clearer picture of your health, whatever the results of the examination and any tests. If you come across as someone who's only interested in ALS, it is more difficult for the neurologist to assess you as they would wish.

I don't think you have ALS. Neuropathic pain, if that is one of your problems, is generally much more treatable, so that's a good thing.
