Hyoscyamine

Definition: 
Hyoscyamine is used to treat a variety of stomach and intestinal tract disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulitis, colitis, peptic ulcers, diarrhea, or pancreatitis. Hyoscyamine can be used to control bed wetting and urination, or to prevent motion sickness, treat Parkinson's disease, alcohol withdrawal symptoms, and poisonings from certain insecticides and plants. Hyoscyamine has the following side effects: may cause flushing of the face, drowsiness, increased sensitivity to light, problems sleeping, dry mouth, headache, blurred vision, constipation, reduced sweating and thirst.
