Unconditional Love

Psalm 13 1 How long, LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? 2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? 3 Look on me and answer, LORD my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death, 4 and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall. 5 But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. 6 I will sing the LORD’s praise, for he has been good to me. Reflections: This Psalm reflects the cry of every human heart who has not yet tasted of the unconditional love of God. This tasting of God’s love is a process. It begins with a yearning in the depths of the soul. We cry out from our pain and confusion and God answer’s with His Presence. Trust is built through this process of feeling abandoned and crying out from the depths and finding that God is right here with us. Unfailing love: this is what every human heart longs for. It motivates our every thought and word and action, though often we are not aware of this and we seek this unconditional love in places where we cannot find it. What keeps us from accepting this free gift of unconditioned love from God? Our sense of not being worthy, our guilt of having failed. But love is a free gift or it is not love at all. It is not dependent on our successes or our failures. It is freely given and must be freely received. Intercessions: ~God, I want to lay down at your feet all my sense of failure and guilt, that keeps me from receiving your unconditional love. I give you all my successes and failures that You may heal me of this false sense of separation from You. ~Help me to see that You are not looking at me with the eyes of a Judge, but with the eyes of the Beloved. ~Surround me with your Love, fill me with your love, and then let your Love pour out of me to others. Prayer: Jesus, my Beloved, I let go of everything that keeps me from experiencing your love: all my guilty feelings, feelings of not being good enough, or not being worthy of your love. I ask for healing at the depths of my Spirit, so that anything getting in the way of your unconditional love, may be removed, so that I no longer have any blockages to letting You love me. I give you my “Yes”, my fiat that you may transform me and complete me in your Love. This yes is all you need from me, the letting go of thinking I have to prove myself worthy of your love. I let your love in without conditions. I accept your free gift of love because you created me, brought me into being, because you love me. I am your Beloved and you are mine. Amen.
