Winyah Community Hospice Care is a US-based hospice and palliative care organization located in Charleston, SC.

Winyah Community Hospice is part of the Winyah family of companies that have cared for patients in South Carolina since 1967. The late Charles F. Cooper, RPh, founded Winyah with three principles in mind: take care of our staff, take care of our patients and make good business decisions. Those principles remain the basis of our operations today.Winyah Community Hospice is a palliative concept of care that the patient and family have chosen as their direction for medical care. Hospice does not attempt to facilitate nor hasten a patient’s health decline. Hospice allows a patient to remain in their home during the end stages of life with comfort and dignity. Hospice is for patients that have chosen to forego aggressive curative therapies or treatment and want to live the best quality life possible for the remainder of their lives.Physical, social, spiritual and emotional care are provided during the last stages of illness by hospice’s medically directed team – consisting of nurses, social workers, chaplains, certified nursing assistants and volunteers. The patient and family are considered a valuable part of this team approach and take an active part in the planning of the patient’s care.
