Dysphagia or Trouble Swallowing Therapy

Vitalstim (www.vitalstimtherapy.com) uses electrodes and a mild electrical current to stimulate the swallowing muscles, both strengthening the swallowing reflex and making the reflex faster.

The Vitalstim procedure involves a set of electrodes attached to the patients throat during eating (topical to the swallowing muscles); the electrodes stimulate the swallowing muscles to strengthen the swalling reflex.
