Hi everyone. Thank you for allowing me to be in this group. I have been struggling with some weird symptoms and could use a little advice.

Recently for the last couple months I have been experiencing weird symptoms in my legs. It started off as a tingling sensation in my legs but then it would progress into something more. For the last few weeks I have been experiencing a lot of muscle twitching and fascilations in my body, but primarily in my legs. It’s causing my extreme worry and dread. I’m having perceived weakness and whenever I stand up my legs feel so extremely tight and I can’t seem to relax them. I have perceived weakness but I seem to walk and stand okay, it just feels weird. Whenever I try and bend my legs too they shake a lot. For example when I go to squat, they shake a lot. This happens to my arms and even back too when I tense the muscles up for a bit and then release. I’m worried this could possibly be ALS.

I will point out that the last few months have been extremely challenging for me because I’ve been under an intense amount of stress that got so bad that I went to the ER twice and I took time off of work for a month. I still struggle with high stress and anxiety daily but it’s not as bad. However I’ve had anxiety my whole life and have never had these issues before and I didn’t want to blame this all on anxiety.

I am having a MRI of my brain and spine to rule out anything but I am worried. Could this be ALS? I am also a 23 year old male

Have to say it again...

AlexD, one thing greatly in your favor... ALS is still considered a rare disease. Even more extremely rare
is someone in their early 20s to be diagnosed with ALS.

Going from tingling to shaking may signal hyperventilation (breathing more deeply/fast than usual) from stress, anxiety, not enough sleep, not enough hydration/good food. It can sneak up on you.

I don't think you have ALS, but I do encourage you to seek more/better counseling to help separate the mental from the physical, for the sake of your own health.

I am in therapy. I Jusy have never been experienced this before and I’ve always had anxiety. I’m also starting to feel a pressure sensation to the back of both my calves, sort of right behind the knee cap. I can’t tell if it’s pressure or tingling. It’s feeling me out. The muscle twitches don’t stop

Anxiety doesn't confine itself to one set of physical issues throughout your life! That's why I call it sneaky.

Maybe you need a more supportive couch, chair, position -- the back of the knees can get sensitive if irritated.
