Hi folks,

Like so many I’m worried about some recent symptoms and appreciate the input of those with better knowledge.

A few months ago I noticed an unusual feeling (weakness?) in my right leg. I walk daily and on those walks the leg seems to not behave naturally, as though I need to think about moving my leg with each step. And I noticed that I couldn’t easily pass slower walkers without unusual effort. Walking up and down stairs also feels precarious.

I also felt like my foot was a bit weak. I’m a musician so I often tap my foot in rhythm and my foot tapping has become a bit labored and jerky. I don’t run much these days but the other day I attempted a short jog and was forced to stop because my right toe kept dragging, so i knew I had some foot drop. After doing some research I did a knee reflex test. My right leg shows very clear hyperreflexia.

I don’t have any pain or numbness in my leg or elsewhere, although sometimes my leg feels tight like it’s being compressed.

How concerned should I be by these symptoms? Thanks so much for your advice.

Worried enough to see a doctor...as for anyone that has a change in function with one or more limbs. But I wouldn't jump to ALS.
