Hi,

I have had ongoing twitches for 6 weeks with muscle pains (not really cramps but a deep ache) in one of my calves / shoulders for around 3 weeks.

I searched for this online and Google helpfully suggested ALS as an avenue of exploration. I saw my physician who said they think the original twitching in my calf led to anxiety which fuelled the rest (testing muscles etc).

Does ALS present as twitching and cramping?

Very humble thanks.

Aches are not cramps but anyway twitching and cramping are so common and nonspecific that they could be anything. I just listened to a group of ALS specialists answering common questions. One said that muscle aches are not early signs of Als. The other when asked about twitching and cramping said what I said above

Thanks for your reply.

The concerning thing with my twitches are they seem to be almost close to constant in both feet as well as intermittently around my body. Are twitches common outside of ALS alongside aches? Would you not worry about ALS regarding this?

Many grateful thanks.

Yes. Incredibly common. And no I wouldn’t worry
