Hi there! I am a 26 year old female, seeking any advice I can get. I have been having symptoms since around January of this year, which include muscle twitching that is body wide but the vast majority being in my left arm/hand, and deep aches in both hands. I got a clean EMG about a month or so into this, but since then I've noticed some changes in the appearance of my left hand, the same side I have been experiencing twitching on. There seems to be some sort of indentation forming on my thumb muscle. I know it's impossible to say from a picture alone, but does this seem to be consistent with beginning stages of atrophy or am I most likely being paranoid? Would it be worth getting a second opinion? Thank you in advance for taking the time to help me, it is greatly appreciated!

I removed your photo, which we do not allow.

If you had motor neuron damage severe enough to cause atrophy a month later, there would have been some abnormality on EMG.

Widespread twitching and bilateral deep aches also suggest something besides ALS. I would check in with whoever ordered the EMG, but a systemic explanation is more likely, along with the possibility of a normal variant and the need for adapting your work/play in some way. You might also look into a PT evaluation to evaluate possible ergonomic causes.

That makes sense. Thank you for the input!
