could someone please advise next steps or put my mind at rest, M - 41

i have been feeling twitching in my calves for 6 weeks or so. no weakness, and i only feel the twitching sat in certain positions ( i dont feel them when i lay down).

i have been DX'd with type 2 diabetes and wasnt living the healthiest lifestyle. i had un diagnosed IBS after blood and CT scans showed nothing. could the twitches be down to anxiety through that process or should i be worried? i had an illness around the same time i think and my glands and tongue swelled. i keep worrying about my tongue and occasionally itches but not all the time. could all this be linked to getting over a viral infection and anxiety of should i be concerned and seek medical advice?

any help would be appreciated as i am worrying a lot

thank you

It is hard to get worried about ALS from several weeks of bilateral calf twitching. The fact that it improves when you lie down suggests muscle fatigue, which is not what ALS is.

Making sure your diabetes and IBS are well-controlled with improved diet, exercise, and any recommended medications will definitely help your health overall and could improve the twitching. So in terms of medical advice, those are the two issues that I would focus on.
