    Jessie's Celebration of Life Service

Hi All, I'm heading to Lake Winnipesaukee, NH tomorrow to visit friends for a couple days. On the way, I will be attending Jessie's Celebration of Life Service, and likely the picnic afterwards for a bit. I'm wondering if anyone else might be planning to attend, and if so, might you like to...

    It's interesting...

the little things that can make you smile. My wife loved a classy/pretty table setting for pretty much any special occasion that came her way. While working on my dining room makeover, I came across these 10 different sets of cloth napkins. I never would have guessed there were 10 stuffed...

    May 23

May 23, 1964 - And Always Something There to Remind Me Love the 80's Naked Eyes version with the fabulous drums. But just learned the song actually first charted for Lou Johnson in the summer of 1964...which is pretty cool. So, In the words of Burt Bacharach and Hal David... I walk along...

Appreciate any and all thoughts - a poll of sorts

Hi Everyone, I'd really appreciate input from anyone seeing this post, not just PALS and CALS/past-CALS (although I value those opinions the most). Please let me know what brings you here if you're not one of the three. If there was a service for PALS where someone came and picked you up (or...

Clear skies where you are tonight? Look for the Christmas star.

Just thought PALS and CALS might appreciate a reminder. Jupiter and Mars align near perfectly tonight, offering a once in about 800 year experience. Evidently the first couple hours after sunset are optimal. I know this isn't exactly about ALS, but on the other hand, I think most everything...

Eye-Spelling Sheets for PALS who can't speak

Lately, I've observed a number of CALS expressing varying degrees of frustration here with not being able to understand their PALS needs or wishes. My wife was unable to speak at all for about four years of her six year journey. It was particularly challenging before she got her Tobii Eye Gaze...

    Feeling scatterbrained

I was reading a few of the past caregiver posts and I can't get Jrzygrl's 'Still no words' post out of my head. Two steps forward, one step back. I guess I have a question for all of you who are in this group. After about six years of having to be super organized and proactive and essentially...

    Sweet Nicole

It's been a month to the day since my wonderful wife of 34+ years passed away peacefully, with me and our son and daughter at her side. At the local Hospice Inn, she had a nice room where we set up her Tobii Eye-Gaze so she could chat with us in the closing moments of her life. We cried our...

    Heuer lifting vented PALS

Hi All, Has anyone transferred, or does anyone currently transfer, a fully vented PALS by Heuer Lift alone? If so, could you tell me a little about it? Do you go to commode, or change your PALS in bed? How many transfers do you typically do in a day? To wheelchair, recliner, other? Any...

Lift chair and hospital bed at hotel/resort

Hi, Has anyone had experience getting a lift chair and/or hospital bed to use in a hotel in the US? We are traveling to NJ in a couple weeks and plan to bring our own if necessary. But I wonder if there is a way to rent them and and have them delivered to a hotel. Any ideas appreciated...Jon
