Good idea, to have wheels wiped off on the way into the house.
As for winter... it's crazy here. NOAA calls it a "wintry mix" - sleet and snow; first t a layer of ice over everything, with tree limbs breaking (a few large ones in the backyard) and power lines down (not mine). Now it's...
Greetings, PALS. I'm new at this ALS stuff, and I feel like I'm reinventing the wheel. Herewith some of my (dumb?) questions:
What are the most comfortable kinds of clothes to wear while sitting in a wheelchair most of the day? Not the jeans I used to live in, I know. And my shirts and...
Great idea to do ROM in the shower. But I'm not so sure I could get a paid aide in the shower with me to do that. (I have no family, and few friends capable of even helping me transfer.)
My back was healthy before ALS, and so far is still healthy. Joints are good. Tingling is constant, and most intense in legs. Unchanged by twice daily ROM. I'm baffled by the tingling.
I was diagnosed in Dec 2012. By this time, I had considerable spasticity in both legs, but still walking with a walker. Now I'm in power wheelchair. I have tingling in my legs, which started concurrent with onset of symptoms, and has intensified as symptoms progress. My neurologist shrugged...

Spasticity is a useful trait. I have way too much of it, but Baclofen was no help. No pump for me, but I took 50 mg Baclofen per day for months, with no effect whatsoever. Then I was referred to ALS clinic, where director/neurologist said the Baclofen was making me weaker, and we discontinued it.
