Amber, I hope they come to some kind of a conclusion soon. I feel at least we're on the right track. My symptoms were confined to my right side but now I'm having troubles lifting my left leg. My left hand still works though.

What do you think caused your ALS?

I used to work in a factory as a saw operator and in my case, I think it's unnecessary stress, working extreme overtime resulting in exaustion, having to use spray paint without proper ventilation and having to walk through a cloud of cigarette smoke just to get into the building to go to work...

Finished the second part of my infusion session. I was able to handle it a bit better than the first session. Still haven't seen any results, walking's getting a little more difficult. I'm approved for Federal disability, it's not enough to pay the bills but it's something.

Well that was interesting Just had my first IVIG treatment today.Took 8 hours to pump lotsa stuff into my blood. It actually wasn't so bad though. I didn't get the bad headaches or nausea I was warned about. The only side effect was that every hour or so I had to unplug my infuser (it has...

    Neck pain

I'm having difficulty with my right arm/ hand. I found that I was hunching my shoulder to try to get them to work. This was causing stress on my trapezius and since muscle cramping is part of the fun with mmn the result was neck pain and headaches. I braced my right wrist to keep my hand from...

Today was a pretty good day You guys know about my neurological problems, so I won't go into all that. The Insurance company's been delaying my IVIG treatment for years then they denied it. Yesterday my wife got on the phone and started making calls. She called the Federal Department of...

    Court ordered treatment

If IVIG doesn't work then why is it the recommended treatment for MMN? There are easier simpler ways to waste a patients time and money on useless treatments. What are the alternatives? Does anything help with MMN?

    Court ordered treatment

We are still being denied access to the IVIG treatment for the ALS/MMN. How do we get access to the treatment two neurologists have prescribed? The insurance company has been refusing to authorize or deny the treatment for over a year now. They keep lying and saying the treatment plan is...

Thanks for the well wishes everyone, it's up to the insurance company now. If they don't cover it I'm screwed. My wife and I just spent the weekend with friends from out of town. We spent most of Saturday at the Maryland Reniassance festival. I'm so thankful for having such a wonderful wife. We...

As I understand it, finding a nerve block would be a "good" thing and would indicate mmn. Not finding an obvious nerve block is an indicator of als. I'm hoping the ivig leads to a diagnosis of mmn.

Well, that was a lot of fun. There's obvious muscular degeneration and immobility but nothing definitive. The results of the emg were "inconclusive," he couldn't find nerve blocks indicitive of mmn. He said it could be because it's been going on for such a long time. I'm going to be scheduled...

I'm off to another Neurologist tomorrow for another emg. The doctors keep bouncing me around for more and more tests. It's been going on for a couple of years but they've brought it down to either ALS or MMN. Tomorrow I should finally get an answer.
