Hi Barbara... after my mom' s last appointment ( where they did not take her numbers - but also did not declare doom) I think we are less inclined to call in Hospice right now. I think our biggest fear now is having a back-up plan for the BiPap - like extra hoses, masks, and a battery for when power goes out. I have mixed feelings about Hospice for right now--- but we are keeping door open and I wonder if it will become apparent to us when they are needed. But again I am amazed by the stories of folks rebounding a bit and having good weeks. Today at her local Doctor appointment ( which we went to using the 75 lb boat battery for the BiPAP - that was a story unto itself!) the Dr. said her lungs sounded good ( she has COPD too) and her color was good... so small victories.
