Lucky you got it before the new medicare rules

Max, you sly devil you

It is getting easier ... maybe :-)

It helps to make sure the background is dark enough. Too much light and your pupils get so small Tobii has hard time following them.

I have had this for a year now and felt comfortable right from the first day. My current typing speed is over three characters per second and is limited by my Windows tablet, not Tobii or my eyes.

>My current typing speed is over three characters

beats my one finger hunt and peck :-) -- actually I probably average that number of errors :-(

let me get this straight... medicare will help PALs get eyegaze systems but they may not use them on the internet to enable PALs to communicate with the outside world?

The key I use most is back space or what did I just say?

Exactly and my understanding is if Medicare paid for it since April they will take way the internet capability. So no email, no websurfing or access to things like the forum no access to ebooks that must be downloaded, no capability to skype or even make regular calls. This is beyond cruel and so far advocacy attempts have been fruitless.

Oh and even better if you end up inpatient somewhere it gets taken away. Presumably it would take a couple of days at least for that to happen but a prolonged stay such as in rehab you would not even have eyegaze to communicate with your care team. It sounds too bad to be true does it not?

I still think Medicare should be sued for this i am surprised this has not already happened.

Neil I expect it will happen since it has not yet been implemented ( September is implementation with rollback to April) I do not think anyone has status to sue. Not a lawyer but I don't think you can sue for something that is going to happen.

I would think this is a clear violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Sometimes a letter from a lawyer indicating what will happen if a policy is implemented is enough to get that policy overturned-especially if the press will be very bad as would be the case here. Hoprfully get a class action suit started and get someone on it now in my opinion.

By the way I have asked about legal opinions on this-one suggestion was to get the ACLU involved

Except for the lawsuit which is certainly being talked about all those things have and are being done. You were not diagnosed in the late winter early spring. Most of us wrote multiple letters and certainly there were lawyers involved too.

Lewis Golinker is a NewYork attorney specializing in disability law. He is one of the people working on it. As recently as 2 weeks ago he was soliciting emails from PALS telling how they are or would be hurt by this. His email is [email protected] ( this email is available publicly on the web)
