Hey all. I just got home from a camping trip in the desert. I'm a desert rat. I love offroading and hanging out with friends in the california desert. Although im in a power chair and cant talk to well i decited to go out this weekend to plaster city and camp with friends and family. it was a bit of a strugle at time for people to understand me they all were cool with it and i was too . not sure how many times i got stuck in the dirt but its ok i got a yank or pull from one of the group to free me up. i know it was hard for them all to see me like i am and as soon as we all adjusted to the new me around the camp site things felt normal. at times over the weekend I almost forgot i was sick. I'VE been into the desert offroading for many of years and although i had to be lifted and placed in to the buggy or camper i had the time of my life. I realized if i have the will there will be a way to still do what i love, live life with no regreats. ALS is a just an obstical in my life, just one of thoes things im learning to work around. and its not hard if you learn to accept it for what it is, its time to plan we all know where the road is going just not sure how fast we we travel it. so we really can plan things out so to speak

Bravo! You are to be commended and I hope you keep on having these joyous experiences and a superb attitude! You are an incentive.

good for you glad you had a great time

Awesome! Don't stop doing what you enjoy, it will keep your spirits up!

Glad you went and had a good time!

Great attitude and a positive outlook is the best advice for all of us. So glad you found a way to enjoy friends and activities that make your life fun.

We use to camp in Joshua Tree when we lived in CA -- and those memories were awakened when I read your post. Thanks for reminding me of those times when we were young and invincible! :) Have a grrrreat day.

It's great that you got to go out camping! We need pictures! Do as much as you can for as long as you can.

EXCELLENT! Your great attitude makes me smile.

fantastic, just shows what you can do when you want to.
though as kids we went camping 3-4 times a year and i'm afraid it scarred me for life lol...........think i'll give it a miss now.

really glad to know that your getting out there and enjoying life. I been trying to get my boyfriend to acknowledge that, that als is just another obstacle for us to get over but we can still enjoy what we have. It's paining me to see him just letting life pass him by day after day. he dont want to leave the house, play with kids, enjoy our friends, nothing. How did you get to that point, do you have any pointers for me to give to him

That's a great line! You have a strong spirit, I admire the way you have pushed through and adapted to a huge change of life in a very short time. You are brimming with courage and hope. Well done!
