Best time of the month to move?

We are planning a move in July from Chicago to DC. We need to tell my boyfriend's employer what his start date will be. Is there a time of the month that is better to move? We are flexible June 30-July 20.

Usually movers and rental trucks are busiest at the end and first of the month. Rates can be lower from the 5th to 25th.

Forget the period in June until after July 7th. That's the busiest part of the entire moving season. Your best bet would be to try to schedule between 7/13-17. The more time you allow the carrier, the less surprises.

Yes, the best time to move is actually mid-month. As you already mentioned the carrier won't be that busy. It's fine that you can play the move like this, often people have to leave their home at the end of the month and don't have the time to prepare sufficiently.
