I have several of the signs of upper motor neuron involvement. Babinskis, clonus, hyper reflexivity. I have fasciculations in feet, calves arms chest. Feel and see them almost always somewhere. Right shoulder has very limited motion and is always very painful. See tone in right hand especially. Always aching in this area . Knees hips very stiff. Fast movement is very painful. Cannot make fist with right hand. Emg said continuous motor unit activity. Took ivig treatments for several months to rule out stiff persons.....no effect seen from treatments. Neuro now sending me to movement disorder clinic for second opinion. Can't see the point of this as nothing seems to fit there either. Anybody experience anything like this?

Hi,

From reading your profile, you say that you were diagnosed with MND/ALS in 12/2012, is that right?
Who made this diagnosis?

However, all the symptoms you describe at the beginning of your post, resemble Upper Motor Neuron problems (Babinski, Clonus, Hyperreflexia, etc.)
I don't know how to interpret an EMG but there is a forum expert on that field nicknamed "Wright" who can help you with this.

I also see that although your Neuro noticed these symptoms he put you on --IVIG--probably to rule out other conditions going on but, it didn't have any positive effects on you, right?

If he is sending you to a movement disorder clinic is because he still thinks your condition might be caused by something else and not what it seems to be.

I wish you good luck on your next appointment and I hope it ends up being something treatable from what you can recover.

Should have stated .....have had MRI on head neck shoulder....all normal. Blood work for everything from Lyme disease to thyroid and arthritis indications. Including complete blood work up by Mayo Clinic. Emg was done by my neurologist who is an ALS specialist. Monthly blood chemistry for IVIG were all normal. Have poor balance and must use walker. Very difficult to navigate stairs or turn neck or torso. My doctor is baffled. I'm fascinated to see how this turns out.
