Hello everyone i found this forum through a google search and thought i would register as i need some help and advice.

I am a fairly young guy (30 years old) i have been having some problems for quite some time now, The story is that i am suffering from numerous problems such as stumbling words, sometimes being unable to say a word and occasionally i go to say something and the word doesn't come out, I also have some issues with swallowing and eating but i only occasionally choke.

There is a few other symptoms i have such as shaking in the legs, arms and hands sometimes and joint pains aswell as a lot of headaches and a feeling of weakness in my arms and legs.

I have seen my GP and had numerous blood tests the only thing that has shown up on my blood tests are things like slightly low Vitamin B12 levels, Slightly raised White Blood Cell count and slightly raised ESR levels.

I am seeing a Ear Nose & Throat specialist in 4 weeks time due to pain in my throat and regular sore throats.

I know nothing about Motor Neurone Disease or ALS all i know is the little bit of information i have read in the past few days, I have read about a form of Motor Neurone Disease called Progressive Bulbar Palsy and due to my symptoms i have become a bit worried that my problems could be down to something like this?

I appreciate your time.

Google will drive you crazy. Wait until the ENT gives his opinion before you start thinking you have a terminal illness. Anxiety can explain some of your symptoms. Stay calm.

Al,

Your opinion is appreciated a lot so thank you, Can i ask you something? An Ear Nose & Throat specialist obviously are trained in those particular areas but would they spot something to do with something like Motor Neurone Disease if it was present in the mouth or throat area?

This seems closer to Guillain Barre Syndrome with all over weakness another to look up is Myesthenia Gravis before you go down the terminal spiral of MND. Check these out there a little easier on the giggle eyes until you hear from your ENT.

Oh and with an Elevated ESR then something is causing inflammation in your body of which MND doesnt not. Auto Immune Diseases cause inflammation.

This case sounds very similar to TStewart31 (see several threads down).

You are absolutely right, the same person. He is banned too.

Good detective work! 8)

As I previously answered his alter-ego, an ENT is the specialty who actually figured out what was causing my problems. This specialty is extremely qualified to notice problems of the tongue, lips, throat, nose, soft palate, voice, speech, ears.... etc.

It is really irritating to take the time to respond to specific questions with an answer I am certain can be relied upon, because I have experienced it in my own life, and to see it (and other questions of course) asked all over again by the same person who has reinvented a new screen name.
