Not directly ALS related but interesting way of looking at disease

My neuro actually discussed this last visit. She thinks there are people who carry my genetic defect and also have some protective genetics that either keep them from getting ALS or delay it significantly. If they could figure it out it could help those of us with the same gene defect. Whether that particular genetic protection would carry over is questionable but it is interesting for sure
 
I also think there would be some merit in researching the genetic duds like myself who get ridiculously early onset sporadic disease. There has got to be some sort of genetic susceptibility going on.
 
How awful for you and your family, i can't imagine the torn feelings.
I have heard lots of rumours since being diagnosed 2-14-2013. My progression seemed to be slow, only speech and swallowing. After 18 months it became agressiveBeen on a vent for a year
