Hello all,
Thank you for accepting me into the forum. My heart goes all to all who are suffering. My timeline is as follows:

Jan/feb 2023: noticed that i wake up with sometimes my hand, fingers, arms are numb and asleep. The feeling would go away after a few seconds.

March/April 2023: right arm/shoulder: would feel aching/ hurt/ weak.

June 2023: legs twitching and then bode wide twitching.

July 2023: EMG of legs was normal and neuro visist.

August 2023: second neuro visit and he conducted EMG of arms at his office. EMG attached. After EMG i had the attached MRI of Cervical and Lumbar.

Sept 2023: 3rd visit to Neuro told me to stop going to him and wasting my money and work with PT and focus on my mental health.

Sept 2023: i had the following exchange with the Neuro via email
Me:
Dear Dr. Xxxx,

Thank you for meeting with me at my last appointment. I know its probably my anxiety and i’m trying my best to follow the advice you gave me.

As you recall i was worried about the positive PSW in my EMG. I know you told me that it was cervical radiculopathy but my question is are you able to tell from the EMG graphs if the PSW are related to something bad or not. Would not serious disb herniation and bulge cause moderate cervical radiculopathy.

I know you reassured me that I don’t have ALS and need to work on my anxiety and health but was just anxious.

Neuro:
Its based on the pattern of what happens as the needle is inserted into the muscle and then what we see on the screen when the needle is resting in the muscle. Based on all that - nothing serious to worry about.

Me:
Thank you so much doc.
I recently had an MRI of both my neck and Lumbar ( attached). Do they match my EMG. Should I follow up with an Ortho?

Neuro: Yup they do match. No you don’t need to see an ortho - the only thing they’d recommend, which you Don’t need, is surgery, or physical therapy, which I’ve already prescribed….

I am still concerned because of the results of the EMG. I still get about 10-15 twitches a day and my right arm/shoulder still hurt/ache weak.

It is too bad you don’t believe your extremely educated specialist presumably because you googled something.

I highly doubt you will believe me either but everything your neurologist said was absolutely true Your emg doesn’t show ALS it shows spine issues that completely correlate with your mri. PT is the treatment and the neurologist prescribed it.

You are free to disbelieve your neurologist and us but you are only hurting yourself. You had very appropriate tests and treatment prescribed. You should stop googling concentrate on pt and be extremely grateful

Hi Nikki,
Thank you so much for your response and for all that you do in this forum. I was just terrified of the PSW findings. I appreciate the knowledge that you guys have and did not mean to come off as not believing. Its just the PSW scared the life out of me. I thought the psw points to the bad findings or are there more things they look at the EMG besides the psw. Please any info is appreciated.

There are more things and a specific pattern to an ALS EMG and you have neither. The emg can show many things and one of them is spine damage which AGAIN correlates with your mri and your symptoms. We really can’t help you anymore. Closing thread please don’t start another
