PALS ROLL CALL NEW THREAD (PALS ONLY) [Wednesday or whenever]

Sorry to hear progressing Hope the modifications you are asking about in other threads help. I do find after the rule don’t fall the next one is conserve energy/ make life easier.

Not much new here in MA. Happy in my new home. So much easier!

And the beat goes on!

Day three of the 17th Radicava cycle.

Progress is still slow.

Thanks, Steve. The VA specialist suggested that as well. I sometimes forget when I've changed a setting, esp height if it's only an inch or so to help lock into the EZ-Lock. I'v tried it once and it worked, though I suspect something else may be in play.

Had an OT specialist visit Monday who offered some suggestions to make life easier (courtesy of VA). One of my daughters is coming from NY for our 50th wedding anniversary (1/25)--a small get-together and she's promised to do all the cooking. Planning something more elaborate in DC in April when my grandson has time off from school (easier to get to DC for some of my relatives).

I seem to never post on a Wednesday, but Thursday seems close enough.

Last year I developed pain in both shoulders. It was diagnosed as bilateral biceps tendonitis and has responded reasonably well to physical therapy.

I have now developed similar pain in both my hips. I saw a hip specialist today and he diagnosed it as bilateral bursitis due to gluteal atrophy. He said it is essentially the hip's version of a shoulder's rotator cuff injury (that is not a tear). The prescription is physical therapy.

It is a good thing I am married to a physical therapist, though we don't have the equipment at home for some of the treatments to doctor is suggesting.

Everyone seems to have missed yesterday. Still here and progressing. Put house on market today.

Good luck with the house hoping for a quick sale and a painless process. I moved recently. Best thing I could have done. Do you have a new place picked out?

Not yet. Will be living with daughter in Central Illinois while finding new house for wife and selling current place. She is overwhelmed and needs to be near other family.

Checking in late once again.

I continue to make slow but steady progress on my project to build a lithium battery pack for one of my wheelchairs.

I have also schedule my first ski day of this season. I am looking forward to it, but am a bit apprehensive about how well my body will handle it with the progression I have experienced over the last year.

DLDugan, best of luck. The transition sounds rough, but hopefully things will work out best for you and your wife.

Steve — sounds awesome!

I’ve “progressed” to the point where I can no longer do treadmill, elliptical, or stationary bike — all were just too much on my legs and I could barely walk after, even after just a few minutes on treadmill.

So I’ve quit that gym and joined our local Y for swimming. I have a friend who has spinal muscular atrophy and uses a pwc. He has things worked out at the Y down to using their hoyer, so that has been an inspiration to me.

Between my partner and a couple other friends who have been willing to help me navigate getting in and out of the bathing suit and into the pool (they have a hydraulic lift), it has been a fun experience so far.

Steve, I hope you will upload a few pictures of your ski day.

Karen, that sounds great. Enjoy!

I finished the 17th Radicava cycle this morning and had a PT appointment for my shoulder this afternoon.

Otherwise, ops normal or as normal as it gets these days.

Well, I contracted my first cold in 19 years. I guess I was just fortunate but I had forgotten how terrible colds make one feel. I made chicken soup and drank lots of coconut water for hydration.

My housemate got it first then I got it. Now we both have it but he is recovering. I'm trying to steer clear of the elderly people whom I play cards with because they get sick easily and it really hangs on.

Yesterday I was feeling sorry for myself so I went out and bought a quart of ice cream and some other treats I wouldn't usually eat. The ice cream felt good going down.

I've been trying to rest a lot but it seems like I want to get things done. I'm glad I don't have to live by alarm clocks and can sleep whenever I feel like it.

Hi, all. Getting ready for a winter storm in the forecast, and chafing that I won't be able to shovel snow. Maybe I should count my blessings. ;-)

Sorry to hear you are sick, Kim. Colds can be wretched. My wife just got over a lower-g.i. bug and I was able to avoid it. Yay!

Started sleeping on the first floor just before Christmas, and it is a relief to not have to do the stairs multiple times a day.

Regards,
Bill

Winter has arrived in Eastern Iowa, with a recent snow of 5+" and lows around zero, with wind. Needless to say I'm staying inside mostly and can't contribute to snow removal. A neighbor plows our driveway but my wife (72 with arthritis and a hurt arm) can't keep up with the walkways--a friend is coming to help today. It's clear now we should have considered more seriously moving to town (we're 30 minutes away). We couldn't face the prospect of leaving our 19th c. house not to mention dealing with 30 years of accumulation of stuff. The home modifications work well, but can't make up for the distance from friends, stores, etc. and our detached garage. Something to consider if you're thinking of remodeling in a rural area without nearby family and friends. I'm doing well enough otherwise--just too much winter to go,

Early this time, going to VA support group tomorrow morning.
The winter march on.
Good day to all

Morning everyone, wife has just gone to clear the ramp of snow, got an inch or two last night. Got about six inches the night before but the neighbor come over and cleared that and the driveway with his snow blower, great guy always there to help summer or winter. Frank the neighbor used to work for the town until he retired as a heavy equipment operator, road grader mostly, but I think he still likes to operate equipment, like his snow blower, his lawn tractor, his giant leaf blower and his rotatiller, he can’t get over here fast enough to help with anything greatly appreciated, a case of beer once in a while is all he will accept. Anyway folks, hope you all have a good day.
