Hi everyone,

I have had three falls in the last month or so going up a set of stairs. today my whipe out was the worst. I spilled coffee all over the stairs and was basically humiliated. As some of you know my story goes back to 2012, with twitching, autonomic symptoms, and tremors. I recently saw an ALS specialist at Johns Hopkins after going to Mayo and Cleveland Clinic. Only Mayo did the EMG though and that was back in 2013. Do I need to worry about ALS? I'm scared as I have been having urinary difficulties lately as well and fear something called MSA.

Why do I keep falling?

Chad

If you had ALS or anything like MSA, I daresay Hopkins would have ordered another EMG. But I would go back to your PCP (a new one if your current one isn't helping) and work on symptoms. De-stressing, bodywork, cognitive therapy and possibly rx can do wonders for tremors, shaking, fears and the falls that come with a high-anxiety state. I would ask about a 24-hour Holter monitor to assess whether rx for tachycardia or BP is warranted.

Do you think they would have picked up on it? Hopkins actually didnt agree with Cleveland Clinic that I have shoulder atrophy. But no joke all three times have been falling going UP a set of stairs. That is exactly like what I read on this forum. I know you all are amazing and I'm sorry to be bothering you all

Mod note: moving thread to DIHALS.

Give us a break - you don't realise what our members are actually going through.

Go to your doctor and work with them - you simply DO NOT HAVE ALS.

I am very sympathetic to whatever is going on, but you truly need to leave here for your own sake, and so our PALS who are paralysed can use this forum better for support.

All the best, but doctors are where you need to be.
