saw this somewhere else on the forum -- great stuff! i wanted to raise a point here that i raised in another thread though. who is to say Neuralstem's technology is any more effective than some of the stem cell procedures being done in, for instance, China? Is FDA approval simply a license to do this research in the US? Or is their technology actually just better and more refined? Any comments appreciated.

Future trip to Taiwan?

Hi rocmg,

Neuralstem's technology allows stem cells to be differntiated only into motor neurons and glial cells. The technology being used in China and other countries as of present cannot be differentiated into specific cells so their effacy is very limited at best or non-effective and even harmful, at worst.

Neuralstem's technology could be enormously beneficial for all us PALS in the future. And they are working in conjunction with a clinic in Taiwan to begin clinical trials there after they start here in the United States later this year. The trials will move faster over there and this new stem cell technology could become widely available in Taiwan before it is here in the states. Which could mean some serious fund-raising for a trip to Taiwan in the future!
