For those who have Familial ALS, when did it first affect you

For those who have Familial ALS, when did it first affect you? How old were you?

I started with (very light) symptoms in my lower left leg 5 years ago. I'm now 35 and have been diagnosed with FALS, Ile-113-Thr mutation.

Currently I have no working muscles below my left knee, and left thigh is very weak, though I can still walk with the aid of elbow crutches. Right leg is progressing in the same way, but is a little bit behind. Fasciculations rife in both thighs.

Symptoms starting to appear in my hands, reduced grip strength especially between thumb and forefinger.

Consultant has given no real prognosis, but believes I may get another five years from now, though wouldn't imagine the latter of those would be that pleasant.

My mom was 50 when her symptoms began. It is my understanding our other family members who had it were quite a bit older, maybe in their mid to late 60's.
