WBC count very high

Well-after my botched surgery I got a blood count to see if I had an infection. Very confusing results,
My WBC was 21,300-normal is 4000-10000, 18000 means immediate hospitalization is needed and over 20000 means you are dead (this is what the doctor said), yet I feel better than I did a few days ago, show no signs of infection and my temp is normal. I got another test today.
I must be an alien!

Trauma will raise your white count. An uncomplicated spinal tap bumped mine 6000. Stress will do it as well. Have seen 21k in someone who turned out to have nothing wrong other than anxiety.
And my dad survived a WBC of 45k once so think your doc exaggerates a touch
