Update. Calf biopsy came back showing muscle damage and denervation. Neurologist said I have focal motor neuron disorder with unknown cause and for me to see him in a year unless something changes. My question is based on his diagnosis could it be ALS or MD or MS. He never mentioned any of them. I still have the twitching, atrophy and pain in the calf and ankle. Please help me with the focal motor neuron disorder diagnosis . What do you guys think.

Thanks

He didn't suggest if there was any treatment? Sorry, I can't even make an educated guess other than to get a second opinion with there new test results in hand.

This is a question you should ask your neurologist. Give them a call. Good luck Scar!

Scar, it sounds as though your doctor has a handle on it. Focal motor neuron disease is not ALS. My understanding is that it progresses to a certain state, then remains at that level. Ask Wright - he should be able to verify it.

Neurologist didn't suggest anything. I am going yo an ALS, MD specialist but no appt till January. Calf still spasms, sore from the calf to ankle and in the arch of my foot. Also a little weakness when standing on one foot. I can do it but a little shaky. Taking lyrica but still have the pain.

Scar, I would call him and ask him what his diagnosis means and what you are supposed to do. Alternately, take the results to a new neuro. Sometimes a good GP can get you in quicker, especially if symptoms are progressing.

Lyrics is for fibromyalgia. Not too surprised its not helping with pain.vif you're having spasms, talk to your GP Or Neuro about perhaps baclofen.
