Hello I am 21 years old and have been going under a diagnostic process since April of this year for some symptoms. I have fasics that occur in all of my extremities, mainly the legs however my left arm has been a hot zone as of late. I understand twitching without weakness is a sign of nothing, but for the past few weeks my left arm has felt very heavy. It lies limp in my lap, I can move it and hold everything the right can but I feel as though I need to work harder to lift things. Holding small things like coffee and a sandwich feels very taxing. However when I go to move larger things like a desk and television set, I can do it. But the arm feels so weak and tired all the time. As if I'm working it out like crazy when in reality all I did was carry a tackle box 50 yards. I have seen a nuero who has referred me to muscular specialist, and requested an emg. He stated he found no evidence of clinical weakness at this time, and is requesting the emg to ensure that I am okay. What is frustrating to me is that he didn't tell me the results of any of my blood work or any of my MRI's. I even asked him to explain to me what I saw and he ignored me. He asked me if I had seen any signs of atrophy. To which I replied "I don't know do you see signs of atrophy" and he didn't answer. My left arm is 1/4 of an inch smaller in circumference than my right, but I am right handed. I'm sorry to bother anyone however I'm very discouraged after this nuero apt. I went to the Chiro, who has a sub specialty in neurology and he moved my arms around and said I have BFS? He didn't test my reflexs, strength, or balance so I don't know how he could have come to that conclusion. I guess I was just looking for some simple feedback about how weakness will usually present itself or to get some first hand insight. (I did read the sticky)

zach please use paragraphs, I could barely read this and our terminally ill people who can only use their eyes will have no hope.

You have zero ALS symptoms, the sticky made that clear and the doctors are trying to tell you the same. You are just feeling a heap of stuff and that's just not ALS.

One thing I have learned is you can never have a single minute of time back. You are wasting the best years of your life and you won't ever get them back so get up and live!

affected,

Thank you so much for your reply, I am sorry for not using paragraphs, I will keep you all in my nightly prayers.

God bless

If you feel ignored by your doctor you should find a new one. I've known doctors who have no bedside manner but to be asked a direct question and refusing to provide an answer seems rather ridiculous.

My advice is the same as Tillie's...go live your life and forget you ever Googled ALS. You don't have it.

Many people come here with updates on measuring muscles, testing their balance and walking on their heels, testing their own reflexes, etc. and it still doesn't equal ALS. The only way one would know to do these things is to have put ALS into their own heads.

Thank you so much for your feedback.

I am looking forward to seeing a new doctor
