How are you doing these days? Still roaring around on your fancy 4wd chair I hope. I am doing ok now that we are past the in-laws visit and I can relax a little but have to get my peg tube replaced and am getting a Bipap soon.
Yes, there will be condensation at the higher levels. We tried a condensation catcher. It is put in the line about 2 feet from the humidifier and your regular air hose connects to it. It helped a lot.
I eventually found I was not keeping my mouth closed at night. Once I learned to keep it closed we turned the humidifier down to 2 and no more problems.
Hi Garry Lee, I am doing ok, waiting for spring and the warm weather to come. I noticed that you said that you got a fancy four wheel drive power wheelchair and was going to ask you about that. What kind is it and how does that work for you? How are you feeling these days?
The humidifier sits beside the bipap machine and is between the bipap machine and your mask. It moisturizes the air your breathe.

In the second picture you can see the humidifier, they use the same one for a bipap or a vent.
Now I don't have a humidifierone was never suggested to me by the hospital. While I'm awake, I breathe through my nose once asleep, I really do not know what I'm doing.
Joelc, how does the humidifier work with the mask of the BiPap machine?
When I was using a bipap I had to set the humidifier at 5. Anything less and I experienced that problem. Are you using a humidifier? Are you having trouble keeping your mouth closed?
Hi Garrylee, yeah sometimes our slip ups do come out kinda funny. It's not Harry Potter, it's Harry New Year! And you're right on, I intend to go out laughing cause I'm warped too. How are you doing?
Hi BarryI like your wording, Harry New Year. I had visions of a hairy, New Year, and chuckled to myself, seeing faces of people with beards. I know I'm sick, but I do have a warped sense of humour.
A Happy New Year not a Harry New Year, sheesh, I really should review my posts before i push the button.
Hello Garrylee, it is good to hear from you and Harry New Year to you too. I am doing well and am looking forward to our trip to Arizona at the end of the month and getting away from the cold and snow here. Too bad about your pants, time for a new wardrobe. If you are like me that is not an easy thing, I hate shopping for clothes! Still no BiPap for me, I have a clinic visit on the 20th so we'll see but so far no problem breathing. I like the train in the tunnel description, I don't snore (at least that is my story and I'm sticking to it) but I can imagine.

All the best to you and Lyn
    Barry
Hello Peter and Barry.Happy New Year to both of you and your families. Yes, but I hope that this year's 2010 is a better year for all of us with ALS, and may be a cure or medication may be on the horizon.
Barry, I thought the same as you about my lung capacity, in July, when I was diagnosed. I was 110%, now around 55 to 60%. For quite a while, I been have been getting, muscle cramps and twitching in my stomach muscles. The stomach muscles have become weaker, and after all these years, I now have a protruding stomach and none of my jeans or pants will do up, " what a bugger, from slim to chubby in six months" not to worry life still goes on, and Lyn says there's more to cuddle.

Barry the BiPap machine that I have has a full mask, like you are used to sleep with my mouth open, and Lyn said they were use to snore like a train going through a tunnel. I don't believe, I never heard myself snoring.

Anyway, goes all the best of the new year hope to hear from you soon.
    Garrylee.
