My mother was diagnosed in April 2012 with Bulbar onset ALS. Just had our 4th clinic appt which concluded with Mom having severe respiratory distress. We were given a cough assist machine, etc. The phlegm is clear, but very long sticky strings. Is this normal? Is this just another step in the progression? Thanks for any help you can give.
