Hello everyone, I am 21 years old and have been experiencing neurological symptoms for the past 2 months. It started with a headache, then leg weakness and muscle twitching, light and sound sensitivity. The twitching started in my leg but in a few days became widespread. Usually its not constant in one place(however sometimes it is), but in general a muscle twitches pretty much every 5 seconds.

On exam at my neuro (1 month ago), I had some slight hyperreflexia on my right side, also the neuro sensed something was wrong with my left eye but wasn't completely sure. MRI was clear, I did test positive for Lyme disease, but doctors say the test result is uncommon in the way it presents...

Every symptom pretty much stopped or got better on its own after a month except the right side weakness and widespread twitching, which is why I got to this forum. I can still do everything I could do before, but for example my right leg gets tired pretty quick when walking, starts to feel stiff, like my muscles are very tense. Both right leg and arm feel heavy when using them, like they have less strength than they used to have. I am really depressed and anxious all the time. I think I also have muscle atrophy, although I am pretty sure my mind is playing tricks on me. I would appreciate any help or opinions, thanks.

My opinion is that you need to see your general doctor. Show her/him what you wrote.

You cannot self assess strength or atrophy. Let your doctor do that and work with her/him.

Has ocular migraine been ruled out?

Also, I would consider approaches like physiotherapy, massage, static stretches, etc. I don't think you have anything to worry about in terms of the diseases we cover here.

Floho, everything you wrote had nothing to do with ALS, except possibly the weakness. All that other stuff is probably something else or nothing important at all. Lots of healthy people report the same things. Not ALS.

As Lgelb pointed out above, you should spend your time thinking about other conditions, not ALS.

As KimT said, you should see a general practice medical doctor. They are trained and experienced to lead a health investigation that could involve several different specialist doctors.

Thanks for the replies, I do have an appointment at my neuro in 2 days. Did some further testing today to totally exclude MS. I do think it could be Lyme disease since my country is pretty much on top of the chart in terms of Lyme infections around the world. But until I have a Lyme diagnosis or an EMG test I probably wont get a peace of mind...
