I have just received a tobii eyetracker 4c as an early Christmas present. This works with windows 10 with their eye control app in ease of access. The drivers are free from tobii, and the eyetracker is $150 us dollars. The eyecontrol just has a mouse, keyboard, and text to speech app. It sets up in minutes and seems to work fine so far. The learning curve is not as bad as I expected, but it is still in beta form. The best part is the fact you don't need to spend $16000 on the tobii computer and software. All you need for this is $150 and a computer, lap top, or tablet that runs windows 10 version 1709.:p

Vincent, that sounds great! Please keep posting about your ongoing experience with this device. The price suggests that we could get one of these without dealing with health insurance.

My boyfriend has no problems yet to use his fairly new laptop, but the right hand is not doing much anymore and now the left hand also starts giving up. So I hope that the sheer possibility of easy to use technology will take away some of the fear. I recommended that he tackles this topic real early so he can figure out what's working for him and what isn't and still be able to complain about it old-fashioned. Also he likes this kind of stuff. He set up a raspberry pi as a music server and now we can play music on the stereo whereever we are in our apartment, controlling it via our smartphones and wifi. Very cool to be still in bed and have music to get you started in the morning.

Wow, might set a Brian up with this just because typing has gotten hard on his hands. Thanks!

Vincent that you so much for sharing that info. Brian already has his Accent, but I did send off a quick email to our ALSA just to make sure they are in the loop on this one. Probably something they could add to their closet, if they haven't already done so.

Hugs, and best wishes this works well for you,

Sue

Just a reminder that for those who still speak, the various Dragon apps on desktops, laptops, tablets and phones have really improved in terms of accuracy. I use them myself in my work.

I use Dragon Pro and love it. Unfortunately, my microphone that cost $200 stopped working because of Windows 10 so I had to order a different one. It's great to have more alternative for communication. Thanks for posting.

Quick note about Dragon. That did not work for Brian with the vent. It kept picking up the woosh of the breathing and writing "who" all the time, and missing what he was actually saying. Then it became moot when he could no longer talk. Would be a great stop gap, if you don't have a vent.

hugs,

Sue

I have a set up like Vincent is describing attached to a Microsoft surface and I love it, I found the Tobii slow and clunky. My only complaint is that it won't work with Apple products, unless that has changed recently

love this post! i bought myself a 4c a while ago but have put off setting it up because I need a new monitor. I love finding new technology or updates that makes my life easie.you have inspired me to get a move on and get it installed!

Dragon would work with BiPAP and a nasal mask. Many PALS can use a nasal mask all the way through, so I would always recommend trying that first.

As for the 4c with a Mac, this page seems to have a Mac software link?

Does anyone use the Windows speech recognition, that comes with the system? I just read about it and now my boyfried yells "scroll up" at his laptop, hehe.
