Hello readers,

Male 48.

I’m here for some time and I tried to read many of posts and for sure I’m aware of BFS.

I started twitching 5 weeks ago, it started on my left chest muscle.
After some days I found out my calves were twitching too. I stressed out and in a week I have twitches in many places.
I do heave throat clearing without any problems in swallowing or speech. And for sure a globus sensation but that can be due the stress ..

one day is the twitching better than the other one, I also have some twitch free hours during the day.

I went to my GP and to a neurologist and they both made a physical exam on me and they found no weakness, which I don’t find too as I still run and push up etc.. so I was diagnosed BFS based on that.

Is the physical exam enough to diagnose the BFS ? Specially when there no weakness?

Do I have to move on and live without stress and trust my gp and neurologist ?

Thanks in advance

Just more information: the left chest muscle still twitches . Sometimes it’s a way for a day or maybe 2 and then it comes back.

Hello-

Please make sure to read here: Read Before Posting. In it you will read that twitching absent weakness and symptoms that come and go point to something other than ALS/MND. And, yes, neurologists are highly trained and can detect neurological issues. If your neurologist was not concerned, and your exam was clear, you will need to find a way to move away from worrying about ALS.

Take care

Thank you very much for your answer and attention to this .. have a great weekend

One last question: the globus sensation with frequently clearing throat ( like on or 2 times an hour) along with twitching, isn’t this any alarm of early ALS symptoms ?

I think the globus is due to some muscle tension, wouldn’t that be related to any ALS symptoms ?

However swallowing is great up to now and have no issues with that. Also no speech issues ..

I would be thankful for any answer and sorry in advance to disturb.

Regards

As we say on the sticky globus is common among the stressed. No not something that makes me worry about ALS

Thanks Nikki. But this globus is there for about 3 weeks now .. I’m much more relaxed now. Or it can take long till released and just forget about it ? Would the globus be the reason of clearing throat ( along with muscle tension ? )
