There are people out there with no conscience at all! We have to always be on guard:
Dr. Charlene DeMarco and her live-in lover will be sentenced in federal court next month in a fraud case in which the Galloway Township physician told her patients that stem-cell research was approved for treatment of a thus-far incurable disease. DeMarco and Elizabeth Lerner were convicted in December of taking thousands of dollars from patients who believed DeMarco had a cure for ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease. The defendants, tried in U.S. District Court in Camden, were supposed to be sentenced today but the sentencing was postponed until May 30, said Greg Reinert, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office.

One of those things that make you go hmmm...

Cheers!

And people sometimes wonder why we delete links to these places. Hmmmm

Thank you Mike for posting this. It is validating to know that the rules here were chosen for good reasons! Cindy

How do people like that live with themselves? That is really infuriating that people would prey on others that way...that is dispicable.

It is despicable, lisa. There will always be an element of society willing to try to take advantage of someone who is feeling vulnerable. Sometimes, under the guise of "free speech," they insist upon their "right" to promote a product or treatment. Most PALS and CALS have trained themselves to look at the bigger picture and, having accepted what we cannot change, are not impressed with either the treatment or the false claims. Cindy

fraud

There was a man in my area recently convicted of lying about the diagnosis of ALS. He raised money supposedly to help fund research but all it funded was his lifestyle. He did not have ALS. He and his Mother were both recently convicted by our state and await Federal prosecution. People are very sad.......Toni

We had a woman who did the same thing with cancer, claiming that her young daughter was ill and needed treatment. Even the child's school-mates got involved until teachers wondered why the girl was not getting worse. People through the ages have found ways to prey upon others. That's why I am thankful to meet such a nice group of caring individuals on this forum! Cindy
