voice/speech assistance

Hello

I have a question that i am asking for my father. His voice/ speech continues to decline . i know at some point, he may not be able to speak. he could then use a something that would speak for him as he typed.

At this point, his doctors have not advised him that he needs this.

what types of aids are there?

how much do they cost?

how long does it take to do voice banking?

what else is involved?

where else do i get more information?

Hi sbdomingues. I see this is your first post. Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear about your Dad. We have a lot of members with expertise in assistive devices here. I am sure some will be checking in soon. Meanwhile, you could try a search on the subject from the tab at the top of your screen. Hi there. Have you registered your dad with ALSA/ MDA? They have information on most programs. Does he go to an ALS Clinic. They should have an Occupational therapist that can help and possibly let him try the various machines available.
