Uploading a picture

Can someone please explain to me in detail how to upload a picture. My has failed everytime.

You could be trying to upload too large of a picture. I think the max size is 87kb. Check that first.

how do you check picture

And if it is too large how do you shrink it to the size it needs to be for profile?
