I just had a clean Brain MRI. I had a 2nd EMG due to pushing for further diagnostics. The EMG Dr. Said I now show signs of irritated nerve root in the lower back. I have increased tremors with activity and really poor stamina. Due to weight gain the doctor thinks the denervation is a sign of irritated nerve root. I've read several reports of people whose emgs start clean and get dirty. I can still function but just at decreased load.

Looking for thoughts on this second EMG and weather others have a similar story. I wasn't able to get to an als specialist after the first emg was clean. Should I seek one out now with a dirty result?

Thank you again.

Ps: I don't have second emg results to post.

A "dirty" EMG doesn't mean ALS. There is no more reason to worry about ALS now than in your first thread. Weight gain can and does stress the skeleton and make movement more likely to cause injury, and irritated nerve roots do show up on EMGs a certain way. Irritated nerve roots have nothing to do with ALS. So you don't need an ALS specialist based on what you have reported.

Again, I would seek evaluation from a cardiologist or pulmonologist if your stamina/breathing continues poor and/or your toes continue purple. I presume someone has ruled out Raynaud's, but maybe not. And as you know excess weight puts a strain on the heart and lungs. Maybe your PCP could refer you to a dietician and/or exercise program, as optimizing both could help you feel better overall, whatever underlying issues you may or may not have.

But this is not the place for you. There is nothing we can do to help you feel better -- that's going to happen in Wisconsin. I hope you find yourself able to make that start soon, as you deserve to feel and function your best.
