Hello everyone Bella Hill here I'm not certain if this is the right place to post but I have an update. First I want to thank everyone who assisted us through this hard time and I will not be posting here again. We had the third emg as requested by Parkland's neurologist and everything turned out in her own words as "textbook normal" no signs of any kind of muscle disease. She questioned the other emg's considering that there were also no signs of myopathy or mnd's.
We are not exactly sure why he feels as though he will still fall down when standing or the looseness of muscles but she guaranteed no ALS so I guess we will look into other options but thank you all so much and I wish you well in your journeys

Thanks for letting us know. Best of luck to you.

Umm quick question he wanted me to ask not to bother anyone since we just had our follow up with the neuro. As we said before everything was clean except for a large muscle group in the leg that was damaged but it reinervated itself. They did the normal strength test plus babinski clonus and Hoffman they were normal no clinical weakness said he seems strong even though he still feels the same he was wondering if the reintervation means anything and could it pose a problem even with a supposed clean emg

A past injury can leave its traces on the body to an extent that doesn't match the EMG, for sure. But it doesn't sound like anything to fix, per se, so I would focus on sleep, nutrition, hydration, perhaps physical therapy. It takes lots of energy for an injury to heal, so I would try to make sure that energy is available.

Falls for whatever reason are dangerous so if your husband needs a walker or cane to protect himself, he should. For that purpose, it doesn't matter what a doctor says or thinks the problem is or isn't.

As I think we've said before, having a good internist is really important, and what you've reported says that, too.

Best,
Laurie

Thank you do you think the reinnervation is a reason for concern should I get an emg in another 6 months or is there no point

Thank you do you think the reinnervation is a reason for concern should he get an emg in another 6 months since reinnervation can be associated with mnd. He is doing personal pt to try and strengthen the muscles that feel weak the neuro said they never encountered someone who says there body feels loose like noodles or detached the other day he ran about three miles in 20 to 25 minutes he hasn't fell or anything
Of that sort do you think the reinnervation may be the reason his legs will unstable like he will fall over since it was a large muscle in his leg

Hello Bella. Thank you for coming back to state your husband has been cleared of ALS once and for all.

Any additional questions or followup should be addressed through your neurologist. This forum is here to support people diagnosed with ALS, our caregivers, and people who have lost loved ones. I understand you still have questions and concerns regarding your husband’s situation. However, it’s really not fair to expect people on this forum to continue addressing them after you’ve not only been cleared of ALS, but were told by a university ALS specialist that the EMG was "textbook normal" with no signs of any kind of muscle disease.

We truly wish you the best. I’m going to close this thread.
