Previous thread here.

Good evening.
Just got my second Emg. This one was done at a ALS specialist hospital accredited by the ALS Association. The Dr was extremely thorough and explained everything he did. It took about 2hours and he checked every where except my eyes! Conclusion was Mildly abnormal because of carpal tunnel in my right hand, but everything else was normal. Considering all my symptoms( see previous post I feel so helpless) I guess the EMG test this time would show something. So I thank you all, and I'm moving towards finding a diagnosis and treatment for whatever it is I have.

Glad to hear it, Luther. Thanks for circling back as it does help others. All the best.

Thank you.
Only thing I know is this all has been confusing to me. Clean Emg, but clinical examination says Als but EMG says normal second time but symptoms are worse and so many different opinions about ALS and some saying they had two clean before they got a dirty emg. I don't know what to think anymore. All I know is I've taken all the test I can and feel worse every day but my emgs say no.

Ok Luther, two clean EMGs and you’ve been cleared by every doctor you’ve seen so far including an ALS specialist. We’re not going to tell you anything different.

While you still have something going on, you can be assured it’s not ALS. We can’t help you any further. We can’t give you a diagnosis to explain your symptoms. Keep working with your doctors, but you don’t need to be here anymore.

Luther, the issues that an EMG reveals are not the only reasons you might feel ill. So just because EMGs are normal (which is great!) doesn't mean you have to disprove them to justify how you feel.

As for the idea that a third EMG is required for you, based on someone else's self-reported story, you can find any given report on the Internet, including six-legged cows, but that doesn't make it true. You've interacted with some of the most knowledgeable people here and we don't see any reason for your concern, nor do your docs. If you keep chasing this disease, that is a life-wasting obsession, not a smart crusade.

If/as anything serious is ruled out by the best process available, and I am speaking generally, not only to you, then the best way to take charge of your health and to feel better is to follow the facts toward the approaches that actually help you get closer to that goal.

I by all means don't want to prove the EMG wrong. Two Emgs no als in 7mos period of time should be great news combined with they have found nothing else wrong. On the other hand they haven't found what is causing the debilitating to my nervous system and muscle weakness and weight loss. It was in these forums that I read of people diagnosed with ALS who said they had three or more EMG's before they got diagnosed, so I was using that in conjunction with my own situation to say that it is confusing to me. But as you all have said I have no place here looking for answers, and that is true. Either way if I have a definite diagnosis, I will bring it to light so that it may help someone else in the future.

Luther, this is the 4th or 5th time you've come back with a "definitive" update. Once was to say that you had a diagnosis of another disease (what happened with that?), another was to call neurologist a liar, and two or three times to say you've had clean EMGs, so therefore no ALS.

Luther, what in the world are you looking for on this forum? This is not a chat room, but a forum for dying people and their caregivers, of which you are neither. You don't have ALS, you do not have ALS symptoms and you have had clean clinical exams. Again I ask, what in the world are you here for?! You do not need to be and that's a great thing. And as for people who have had a "clean" EMG and then later diagnosed, those people showed very unsettling clinical exams, of which you do not.

Please, it is really time for you to let this obsession (because that is what it has become) with ALS go and focus your energies elsewhere. If you find you cannot, you should perhaps seek therapy to do so. My reply may sound harsh, but you have no idea the day to day of PALs and CALs and to treat this forum as a chat room of sorts is not what the forum is for.

Seriously, Luther, let this thing with ALS go.

As for the other diagnosis of Dysautonomia, it was ruled out as was Eaton Lambert, M.S. M.G. Cancer, Lyme, Lupus, Autoimmune diesease, and toxic poisoning.
As for ALS, I didn’t go searching for it, I just went to the doctor and my doctor wanted to find out why his patient lost 63lbs from 263 to 200 from July to January, why his patient couldn’t walk, use his hands, talk, struggling to breathe, constipation, fatigue, weakness, and muscle atrophy from a man who was solid 263 to what he sees now. So he recommended all these tests which included ALS. I only searched this forum to see if anyone had similar experiences, not to make enemies or abuse anyone. I only noted that this was all confusing because of what I read in other forums of people saying they had all of the similar symptoms but it took them 4 EMG to get an answer. I’m not obsessed with ALS, I obsessed with knowing what has happened to me in 6 months. I would like to be removed from this forum after this administration please block me. I don’t want to be a problem nor burden to anyone. Good bye! And thank you for your help!
