Hello All, particularly KarenNWendyn and lgelb and others...

Figured I may as well update my above thread regarding mainly twitching, long story short he determined it is Benign Fasiculation Syndrome, and essentially nothing to worry about.

Went to the ALS specialist at Mount Sinai NYC, Dr. Scelsa- Columbia would have been a long wait- and he was a bit suspicious about the first EMG results from the get go. Did the round of physical testing and another round of EMG testing where he said he "could see why the other doctor could make the determinations" found in the prior EMG, but he essentially overruled it and said it was the wrong call. He said some abnormalities in the EMG could even be from "wear and tear" and the fasiculations he noticed were benign. Tested up the entire side of my body and seemingly everything else was normal.

He said as many of you mention in here that if there was any worry of ALS the signs would have shown in the EMG elsewhere throughout the body and it is not too early to get the EMG. Said the twitching can last for a month, 6 months, a year+, but have to learn to ignore it. 3 months later my calves mainly are still twitching all day but trying to learn to ignore it and also seeing a psychologist at his suggestion to deal with getting over this as well as underlying anxiety. Even with his diagnosis still have some bad thoughts creeping in here and there!

Said he has been diagnosing both ALS and BFS almost weekly for 20 years and the BFS has never turned into something more serious. Said there is a "zero" percent chance this is ALS, can't get a doctor to be any clearer than that... No need for follow up with him.

Sorry for the long post but that is the story, thought I owed a follow up. Thanks for your knowledge and information in these forums.

So great!
Please, please, don't let the ugly face of health anxiety into your house again.
It might be knocking on your door time and again, because you'll stay alerted, that's how HA works.
Just ignore the knocks, don't test your strenght, don't look for atrophies that are only in your mind, don't lay and count the twitches.
