Just want to chime in on diets-- I have bulbar onset and while things seem to be going nice and slow, I have some trouble with swallowing. I know it is great to eat healthy and the idea of trying to find a dietary protocol that might help with ALS is tempting, but at the same time, I also know that the time I have to eat by mouth is probably limited (as eventually a feeding tube will likely be necessary). So I'd really like to enjoy what time my mouth has left with favorite foods rather than use that time forcing down health foods that may or may not help with the ALS. I still try to keep a reasonably balanced diet, but I give myself 100% permission to indulge in all my favorites and focus on enjoying eating rather than making it another stressful part of the disease. Just my personal take.
