Hi. My 41 year old wife has ALS and the neurologist was not very good at explaining these values to us.
Oct 2024
Current Pulmonary Function Values:
Maximum Inspiratory Pressure: -10 cmH2O
Ambu mask used; UTA d/t bulbar symptoms
Previous Pulmonary Function Values (11/28/23)
Forced Vital Capacity (sitting): 0.79 L
% Sitting Predicted: 27%
She has access to a BIPAP but has chosen not to use it. The values look quite low so I was wondering if someone can shed light on what that means in terms of life expectancy or even if these values are "ok" for someone with ALS.
She is on a GTUBE and is non verbal. She is almost 90% paralyzed and almost bedridden.
